Mr Jason Haddad, Clinical Psychologist

Mr Jason Haddad works as an Associate at Joondalup Psychology Centre. Jason began his working career as a high school teacher. He worked both in South Africa and the USA, gaining valuable knowledge and experience in working with adolescents, during this time. After completing his Masters in Clinical Psychology, Jason then moved into a Clinical Psychology career in the State Mental Health Service in South Africa, before moving to Australia in 2009. His clinical work included working with complex psychiatric diagnoses such as Schizophrenia, as well as helping clients to manage Bi-Polar Mood disorders.

Since living in Perth, Jason has continued in government work for the Department of Child Protection, combining this with private practice. Jason focuses his work on adolescents and adults. Jason’s work in the private practice setting extends to assisting clients overcome the burdens of anxiety and depression, as well as building skills to manage day-to-day life better. In addition to working with general psychological disorders, Jason has a particular interest in working with clients who are dealing with sexual identity issues, as well as gender or trans-sexuality issues. Jason belongs too to the Mental Health Practitioner Network Gender Interest Group,  where he receives ongoing and up-to-date educational support and is linked to other professionals working in this area in Perth.

Jason uses evidence-based therapies including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Schema Therapy.  Jason is always cognisant to also employ the Rogerian style of ‘talking therapy’ too in his work, to meet the client where he or she is ‘at . Jason uses Mindfulness techniques, as well as imagery and visualisation, to assist a client to bring about the change he or she needs in their life.
