Mrs Janette Williams works as an Associate at Joondalup Psychology Centre. Janette has over 25 years of experience as a psychologist working in corporate, private and government organisations. She is trained in individual, couple and family therapy as well as clinical hypnotherapy.
Janette started her career as an Occupational Psychologist working primarily in government employment and career counselling services before undertaking her clinical psychology training.
For the past ten years she has worked as a psychologist for Medibank Health Solutions, a role which involves pre-employment interviewing, assessment and psychological profiling for a variety of government organisations such as the Australian Protective Services, Public Transport Authority and the Department of Corrective Services. The role has also involved interpreting psychometric and diagnostic assessments as well as individual case-work.
Janette has worked as a consultant for over ten years for a leading Employee Assistance Program provider offering a full range of psychological interventions for individuals, couples and families. She has experience working in regional areas such as the Pilbara and South West providing psychological support for employees in the mining sector. Clients and their partners have benefited from her experience in assisting them to develop strategies such as dealing with the impacts of FIFO work. Janette has attended numerous workplace critical incidents in metropolitan and regional areas and is an experienced trauma therapist. She also provides assistance to individuals going through redundancy, the effects of workplace structural change, performance management or bullying and harassment in the workplace.
Janette provides solution-focused, medium or long-term therapy using a range of best-practice therapeutic interventions to suit the individual needs of her clients. With a background in Humanistic Psychology she uses approaches such as Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy, Schema Therapy, Clinical Hypnotherapy and Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR). She has a particular interest in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy incorporating mindfulness training. Janette works with children (over 8 years of age) and adolescents. She has worked with children with special needs including challenging behaviours. Janette also has considerable experience providing counselling and therapy with parents. More recently, Janette has used her training in EMDR in successfully treat childhood and adolescent trauma. Janette is a happily married mother of three young adults.
